The Joe Louis Greenway Partnership
is a 501(c)(3) organization. We are dedicated to creating a vibrant, welcoming space that honors the strength and resilience of its surrounding communities through:
• Inclusive Programming
• Ongoing Beautification
• Intentional Community Engagement

The Joe Louis Greenway Partnership
is the long-term steward of the Joe Louis Greenway, a trusted partner for residents in the cities that it serves.
The Joe Louis Greenway is a nearly 30-mile recreational pathway that will connect residents and visitors across 23 neighborhoods in Detroit, Highland Park, Hamtramck, and Dearborn through a combination of new trails, on-street protected bike lanes, and links to existing trails in Southeast Michigan.

Message from Leona Medley, Executive Director of the Joe Louis Greenway Partnership:
The Partnership is proud to serve community members across 23 neighborhoods in four cities, as well as visitors from across the state and around the world. The Joe Louis Greenway has earned national recognition for its innovative framework and investment, but its greatest achievement lies in the lives it connects and the communities it uplifts.
Rooted in the legacy of Joe Louis – a champion of resilience, strength, and dignity – the Joe Louis Greenway reflects the spirit of a man who united people and broke barriers. Every mile honors that legacy, inviting connection, reflection, and belonging.
We invite you to experience the Joe Louis Greenway through our free programming, strong community partnerships, wellness activities, public art, and youth engagement. The Joe Louis Greenway is not only changing how we move through our city, it’s transforming how we come together within it.
The framework
The Joe Louis Greenway Framework Plan sets a community-led vision for a nearly 30-mile multi-use trail connecting Detroit, Dearborn, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. Every route, park, and mural is shaped by local residents, their voices and ideas breathe life into these public spaces, connecting neighborhoods for generations to come.
